Sex, Women's Bodies, Fashion and Korea

I took a glance at the little list that shows which and how many the top ten blogs of mine have been viewed earlier today. My stomach dropped. Going by the title of the blogs only, almost all of the ones that have made it into my current top ten are about Sex, Women's bodies, Fashion and Korea.
To think of how many gut-wrenching, in depth reflectioons, essays and memiors i have posted in the last year and have thos be the topics that draw the most attention is so disheartenig to me. Somehow i thought gaia would be different. Somehow i believed that even though gaia is primarily compromised of white, middle class females, it would be different. Somehow i thought the force of the content that dives some much deeper in my writing would win over the same things that crowd the newspaper stand.
Clearly i am wrong. Apparently we talk a good talk about social change and revolution and a new way of living and looking at the world but it is still the same things that draw the most attention- sex, woman's bodies and fashion- which in reality are all just sex spelled out differently.
I give up.

Help

Michael,
I’m sorry to hear that you thought people are still the same as in the old days (and so are the people in Gaia who you think are mostly white middle class females).
But I have to disagree with you :)
I don’t believe people were attracted to those titles just because they were about sex. I think they wanted to see what other people in Gaia who are open to new energy and ideas think about sex. They might have wondered if you also thought of this subjct like they do as a sacred communion of both sexes.
I was attracted to your article about a Korean virgin because first of all, I am a Koran woman and wanted to know what a caucasian guy was thinking about this subject and also wanted to know how a spiritually oriented person would approach on this subject. As for me, I wasn’t just interested in the provocative title of the writing and I believe most of the people who visited your writings on the subject of sex weren’t, either.
I believe you are misunderstanding people who visited your writings and catagorize them.
We all have dualities. So there is no meaning of judging other people especially when you don’t know the truth (here, why they visited those writings) perfectly.
We evolve all differently and at a different speed.
And there is no wrong or right in everything.
We have free will to think about anything as we want but we have to examine ourselves if we really know the truth before we decide to believe in what we see. Things are not always as they seem….
Please, Michael, don’t go too far to the edge, don’t go to polarity, don’t go to separation, don’t go to division, and most of all, don’t be hard on yourself. (I feel that you are seeing(mirroring) yourself(your polarity) in people who read your writings and in a way it is true…)
That’s what I felt during reading this writing..
Michael,
I just want to say this….
Don’t give up :)
The game isn’t over yet….
It is too early to be disappointed and give up :)
Until we can see the whole picture…,
we can’t say we ‘know’ and what we see is all….
Be generous to people and most of all, Yourself, too :)
Gratitude and blessings,
Harmony
Hi Michael, one thing you should consider is that whenever people google key words, a Gaia blog or discussion often comes up within the first ten hits. I suspect many of the hits are from people who are not on Gaia.
I agree with Harmony, too, I think there are many good reasons that people on Gaia could be intrigued to read this. It is important not to jump to conclusions based on very limited information.
I want othank you both for you words and support. I wrote this in the energy of a moment. ten minutes later i didnt feel the same way but chose to leave the post up anyways. i think there is value in it.
Both your points on my possible misunderstanding have merit, especially the one about google searches. the same blogs are heavier searched on my blogger blogs as well: virgins, korean virgins, sex, korean haircuts, boobs and butts
these are keyword searches that find my blogger blogs, no reason not to think they are not landing folsk on gaia as well.
With all that said, i think therre is soething to this as well. It just follows the old adage: if you look like a duck, sound like a duck and everyone thinks you are a duck. Chances are good you are a duck. Not a suefire method of discernemnt but often rings true. My gut tells me there is some validity to what i wrote about, maybe not the whole truth, but still sooethig therre to explore and acknowledge. I am not one that choses niavete to feel better or in psuedo-balance with the world. i accept we are all a mixed bag, individually and collectively.
Thanks again for both of you sharing your perspoectives and support.
Peace
michael
